It always good to evaluate your soils and take a reading. You may want to get a soil test. Here is an easy mail in soil test kit. Or you can take your soil to the following location in San Diego for a test. I would also highly recommend an second soil test in native soil of the citrus trees.

I regularly use a soil test meter that helps me determine moisture, ph levels and light.
